What is a Chairman…and is it Something I Want?
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you will know that I am constantly discussing how to become the Chairman (or Chairwoman, but for purposes of keeping this blog succinct, let’s use the term Chairman) of your business. However, for many business owners, this term is not quite clear. And if the term is not crystal clear, then your goals to get there will become even more hazy.
Now, I am assuming that if you’re reading this, you are either a business owner or are thinking about being in business. If you are, then understanding the definition of Chairman is critical to being successful.
The Chairman role sits above the business. You guys have heard it in many different ways-that you want to be an owner of your business or CEO of the business. However, being an owner or CEO means that you are still working in your business. You’re still working in the day to day.
Being a Chairman means that you are working above your business. You are elevated above your business (or multiple businesses) and still able to control them…while you are not working in them every day.
Seems too good to be true, right?
Well, it is too good if you do not set yourself up to get there.
If you do not define your outcomes and roadmap to get to the Chairman position, you will forever be tied to the day-to-day of your business. You’ll perpetually work endless hours, struggle to meet payroll, fail to grow, or even find your business suffering.
If you’re a business person, then Chairman is that role you need to aspire to.
The key to success is to set your goal of becoming a Chairman and then setting up your roadmap to get there.
Most people are operators in their business. They’re President, CEO, or whatever title they call themselves, but despite the great title, they are still stuck in their business. If they ever took a day off or stepped away in any capacity, their business would slow down or completely fail.
Most people get into business to create freedom, but then they end up having less freedom.
Most people get into business to make money, but then they end up making less money.
You need to shift your thinking: You are getting into business to create freedom for you and your family.
This is exactly why I created my company, Anton Jae Global, and have helped hundreds of businesses create freedom through their business. Then, I built my Growth Course to help individuals who cannot yet afford my consulting firm, to grow their businesses and step closer to that place of freedom.
